Project: the FIG Fund Entrepreneurship Training Program
Organization: The YMCA Northeast Avalon
FIG Fund Grant: $4,950
The Fig Fund Entrepreneurship Training Program is a 6-part business training series for female and gender-diverse newcomers. The FIG Fund Entrepreneurship Training Program included networking opportunities for clients, facilitated workshops on business development topics and interactive activities to put new knowledge to practice.
From July to December 2024 YMCA staff, with support from guest facilitators, delivered this program with the goals of increasing women-identifying and gender-diverse newcomers in the province’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and to help them launch or grow a business. As one client said ”Such programs really help women entrepreneurs to get the much-needed boost to pursue what we are passionate about and a welcoming safe space to communicate our vision.” In December FIG board members were invited to help clients mark the end of the Y initiative with a boisterous celebration event.
