Project: Scholarship for Nursing Students

Organization: Cochrane Street United Church

This year’s grant was distributed through Cochrane Street United Church to two members of the church as a scholarship. Both women were immigrant, low-income, nursing students working as Personal Care Attendants in our community. This scholarship supported a semester of school and books for the women to relieve some stress and help them advance in their careers.

Cochrane Street United Church is local church committed to their community. They gather weekly for worship and reach out to care for others. The Cochrane Centre is a not-for-profit established by the congregation to provide housing, community and performance space.
